Payments Team

Andrew Parry

Andrew Parry is the owner of Merchant Savvy, which he founded in 2014. He has helped thousands of UK SMEs secure lower card processing rates and find the best payment processing solution for their specific business needs.

He works in partnership with the payment team and manages digital marketing.

Roger Milne

Roger established Independent Merchant Services in 2012 after going through the frustrating process of trying to compare costs and providers. He wanted to offer businesses a bespoke service where they were spared the hassle of dealing with multiple call centres, pushy sales agents all trying to sell their “deal”, confusing pricing models and additional charges hidden in the small print.

He leads the team dealing with all merchant service enquiries received through Merchant Savvy.

Harry Jones

Since securing a Bachelor of Science in Financial Economics and a Masters in Data Science and Business Analytics, Harry has been a finance writer since 2019.

He has worked with leading wealth management and fintech brands. More recently, he has built in-depth domain knowledge on modern payment systems and enjoys helping smaller businesses find better solutions.

Darren Britcliffe

Darren has worked in the industry since 2009 when he started at Worldpay.

He subsequently held sales positions at Mainline Payments and Payzone before joining Roger’s team in 2018.

Charlotte Bond

Charlotte joined Merchant Savvy as a data researcher and writer in 2025, where she now focuses on making financial topics more accessible and insightful for UK businesses and consumers.

Charlotte holds a bachelor’s degree in English Language and Literature and has worked as a researcher and content writer since 2020. She spent four years specialising in cybersecurity, analysing ransomware attacks and data breaches for global audiences.

Gavin Brown

Gavin has worked with us since Jan 2019 and is now a veritable expert in payment processing.

He is building a very impressive list of glowing client reviews.

What We Do

We help UK businesses secure the most competitive credit card processing rates.

Payment processing is complicated, but it doesn’t have to be. We take the hassle out of comparing payment providers and negotiating card processing fees.

Whether you’re taking payments face-to-face, over the phone or online you will receive recommended payment providers for your specific business and very competitive rates negotiated on your behalf.

No sales agents. No call centres. No referring your details. Just unbiased advice and competitive rates.

We have established relationships with all the major merchant acquirers and leading payment specialists. These relationships, together with the number of businesses we advise each month, means we can typically secure very competitive rates that you could not achieve going direct.

We help all types of businesses from those new to card payments to those transacting over £50M per year and looking to switch providers.

How does Merchant Savvy make money?

If you sign up with one of the payment service providers we have secured quotes from on your behalf, we will receive a small commission from the payment service provider. Our service is free to all businesses that use us.

A very small proportion of our revenue also comes from referral links on the website. We get paid a small commission when a website visitor follows a referral link on Merchant Savvy and subsequently signs up for a service or buys a product on the companies own website. We have some referral links to finance companies, card readers (i.e. Square) and business bank accounts.

Any reviews we publish are editorially independent and are in no way influenced by any commercial relationships we may have.
